Yes, There is Bigfoot Here In The Garden State
From the dense forests of High Point to the rocky shores of Cape May, New Jersey appears to be a haven for Bigfoot. Animals Planet’s “Finding Bigfoot” has visited here twice. The newest investigation is coming up in the new season, which starts Sunday, January 4, 7 PM ET/PT on Animal Planet. The FB crew heads to New Jersey to begin the season. I, for one, am glad they have back to my state.
New Jersey Bigfoot Legends
The most well known of NJ’s Bigfoots is the Jersey Devil. I know most of you think it’s another type of crypto-beast, but a Bigfoot is actually responsible for many of the sightings of the Jersey Devil. Yes, it does fly, and that’s actually a Thunderbird-type creature that has the same cry as the Bigfoot. The cries have caused the Bigfoot and Thunderbird sightings to become a single devil-like creature. Another Jersey Bigfoot is Big Red Eye. This one was very popular in the 1970’s, when well over a dozen excellent sightings were reported. Dozens of newspaper articles were written between 1975 and 1979 concerning an 8 foot tall creature in Sussex County.
The Wild Man Of Newark
On January 6, 1894, a group of women saw a hairy man running across the grounds of an abandoned estate near Newark. He was seen throughout the year in the same vicinity. Encounters with him turned violent, as he struck out at hunting dogs and hunters. Reports streamed in for years in this area. Its actions took on that of classic Bigfoot sightings before they stopped a dozen years later. Could this have been a Bigfoot? Who knows.
The Finding Bigfoot Expedition
On Sunday, I tuned into the first episode of the new season of “Finding Bigfoot.” They visited the High Point area of the state, in the upper north west part of New Jersey. This area has been a hot bed of Bigfoot activity since the 17th century, when several trappers reported sighting a large hairy wild man. Since then, about one third of all NJ reports have come from this county. As usual, there were lots of “Ooh, what was that?” moments, and some interesting sightings.
Is There Bigfoot In New Jersey?
The evidence says that yes, Bigfoot does inhabit this state. There is plenty of rich habitat with more than enough food sources for a small army of these creatures to live here. And if they are simply Tricksters and/or extra dimensional beings, they could live anywhere they like without fear of being captured or seen for very long. That’s my view. What’s Yours? I’d be happy to hear from you in the comment section below.
